SCC Construction, was founded on the belief that a beautifully designed space can also be cost effective.

Sun Capital Corp began redeveloping properties in Vancouver, BC in 2003, focusing on the restoration of heritage buildings, merging modern design with classic architectural features. While searching for construction companies to work with on our projects we found it difficult to find anyone who was both design-focused and still reasonably priced. Sun Capital Corp recognizing such a need in the Vancouver marketplace formed its own construction management services, bringing together quality design and build services at a reasonable cost.

Phil Kim

President
Phil graduated from UBC, with a major in Philosophy. He is a visionary entrepreneur, a successful developer, a film production company owner and a charity supporter.
 
At the beginning of his development career, he purchased and restored a heritage building sparking his interest in the construction industry. Then is when he found himself dealing with construction companies that over promised and under delivered. He realized that the model of the traditional Construction Company needed to change. That’s how he started SCC Construction in 2008, with the goal of providing customers with more than the industry standard, focusing on them, understanding their needs during the design/construction process, and always going the extra mile. 
 
When Phil isn’t at the office, he’s usually exploring new business ventures.

Josh Bligh

Vice President of Construction 

Josh has been with us for over 10 years and has become the MVP of SCC. His experience in Tenant Improvements, Residential Renovations, and Sales provides him with the ability to build positive and long-term relationships with customers, sub-trades, and suppliers. When Josh isn’t in the office, he can be found on the local golf course, on the 19th hole.

Marianela Diaz

Director of Operations

Marianela has a background in Architecture and Urbanism and a Diploma in Business Management and Administration, with over 20 years of design-build experience in Residential, Commercial, and Industrial. This range of experience, along with her organizational skills and eye for detail, brings creative solutions to even the most challenging projects. When Marianela isn’t keeping the SCC team together she is dancing to Shakira with her daughter.

Nicole Patterson

Business Development Manager 

Nicole joined SCC with a strong background in sales and construction, blending the two worlds together. A Professional Sales diploma from BCIT, complimented by Psychology at UBC has allowed her to build lasting relationships. Nicole has worked across several market sectors and industries, expanding her industry knowledge and deep insight into what her clients want and need.

When Nicole isn’t in the office, she is off hiking one of the local mountains or exploring a new happy hour around the city.

Adam Coleman

Senior Site Superintendent 

Adam joined SSC Construction with well over 35 years in the construction industry with clients, design firms, partners and projects from all points across the globe.

He has been fortunate to have collaborated on several high-profile projects from High Rise Construction, World Class Restaurants, Licensed Lounges, Data Centers, Higher Education, Office Tenant Improvements to Unique Retail Establishments. Identifying potential roadblocks and issues early on leads to viable schedules and a fluid construction flow, all the while mitigating unnecessary costs to the client. Adam strongly believes in a team environment with collaboration at its core.

Isaac Lew

Project Manager

Isaac has worked with SCC Construction since 2014 and we’ve seen him grow not only personally, but professionally.

With a Degree in Construction Management and Diploma in Business Management, Isaac seamlessly facilitates the construction process for customers’ and other stakeholders.

When Isaac isn’t working on his projects he loves spending his time outdoors, having recently sailed the Georgia Straight to Hornby Island.

Faeze Shamshirdar

Interior Designer

Faeze joined SCC with a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, which allowed her to continue her passion in the interior design field.

She has worked on a variety of projects from custom homes to large commercial projects which has allowed Faezeh to be come well versed and accustomed to challenges. She is now an expert in engineering the interiors.

When Faeze isn’t designing spaces, she is busy with her hand macrame.

James Ryan

Senior Project Manager

Jim is a Civil and Structural Engineering Technologist with construction project management and supervision experience spanning over 20 years. Jim has recent professional experience with commercial tenant improvements. 

Jim has completed successfully restaurant and retail renovations, as well as commercial tenant improvements. He understands how to balance many demands on tough renovation projects in occupied areas. Jim works collectively with stakeholders to ensure that the construction process is smooth and efficient from beginning to end. Strong ability to proactively manage customer needs to high levels of client satisfaction. Jim has a proven track record of safety.

Luis Hadic

Accounting
Luis brings more than 10 years of accounting experience across various sectors including, technology, mineral exploration and mining and manufacturing industries focusing on financial reporting, regulatory compliance, internal control and corporate finance activities. He has held CFO and controller positions with several private and public companies and worked as a corporate financial consultant. Luis has also worked in the banking sector for over five years. In 1997, he concluded his studies at the University of Uruguay in the Faculty of Marketing and Sales.
